19.07.2024 Cormorant passing Corbiere MD
A fine day, but cooler than yesterday in a moderate westerly wind.
Around the St Ouen's Bay area on a fairly quiet day for birds, starting at the Scrape, were 6 Shovelers, a Green Sandpiper, 5 Lapwings, an Oystercatcher, a Water Rail, a Little Egret and the singing Sedge Warbler.On the North side of St Ouen's Pond was a female Reed Bunting, which may well have been one of the pair which bred nearby, although probably without a successful outcome. In St Ouen's Bay were 2 Mediterranean Gulls, 45 Black-headed Gulls, a Sandwich Tern and a Lesser Black-backed Gull and in the Sandpits were a Common Sandpiper and 30 Sand Martins.
A few birds passing Corbiere early on included 5 Balearic Shearwaters, 2 Guillemots, 3 Fulmars, 38 Gannets, 4 Cormorants, 5 Mediterranean Gulls, a Black-headed Gull and 5 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and at Petit Port were 27 Curlews, 6 Mediterranean Gulls and a Grey Heron.
In Grouville Bay were 86 Mediterranean Gulls, 40 Black-headed Gulls and 17 Sandwich Terns and at Woodlands Farm was a Cattle Egret in a tree.

Swallows were at La Moye yesterday.
