21.01.2024 The over-wintering Pink-footed Goose at the Scrape RdC


A cloudy day with the odd sunny spell and a strong south westerly wind.


Seen around St Ouen's Pond today were the Hen Harrier, 17 Wigeon, 4 Gadwall, 7 Shoveler, a Pochard, 250 Brent Geese, 18 Coot, 2 Little Grebe, a Dunlin, 35 Snipe, 220 Lapwing, 8 Marsh Harrier, a Water Pipit, 2 Stonechat and 25 Skylark while near by on the beach were 38 Ringed Plover, 33 Dunlin and 8 Sanderling.

At Kempt Tower were 8 Shoveler, a Tufted Duck and 2 Pied Wagtail and along Rue de la Preterie were 40 Lapwing and 2 Cattle Egret.


Passing Grosnez were 2 Red-throated Diver, 81 Razorbill, a Guillemot, 22 Gannet, 43 Fulmar, 73 Kittiwake, a Mediterranean Gull, a Lesser Black-backed Gull and 2 Raven and passing Corbiere were 290 Razorbill, 10 Guillemot, 21 Kittiwake, a Lesser Black-backed Gull and 11 Gannet.


At Beaumont Marsh were 135 Brent Geese which included 5 Pale-bellied, 7 Shoveler, a Teal, a Snipe, 2 Little Egret and 2 Pied Wagtail while 27 Lapwing were still along Route des Hetres.


Out East 3 Black Redstart were at La Rocque, 2 Shelduck, 74 Brent Geese, 150 Black-headed Gull, a Common Gull and 2 Grey Heron were at La Sente, near St Saviours Hospital were 4 Cattle Egret and 8 Fieldfare in a nearby orchard and in Vallee des Vaux were 2 Woodcock, 6 Bullfinch, 2 Siskin, 20 Redwing, 2 Blackcap and a Firecrest.
