25.03.2024 An immature Common Gull passing Corbiere this morning MD
A day when all the rain avoided the Island, leaving us in a cloudy regime with a fresh south-southeast wind and feeling cool at 11c
Seawatching from first light at Corbiere produced sightings of 43 Razorbills, 39 Guillemots, 5 Fulmars, 22 Gannets, 5 Cormorants, 16 Shags, 34 Kittiwakes, 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 45 Great Black-backed Gulls, 2 Common Gulls and 3 Sandwich Terns, also 4 Purple Sandpipers, a Curlew and a Pied Wagtail, while at Petit Port on the high tide were a pair of Shelduck and 7 Brent Geese.
At St Ouen's Pond were the male Pintail, a female Wigeon, 8 Tufted Duck, 33 Shovelers, a Pochard, a Snipe and a Stonechat and around the Scrape were 36 Teal 2 Shovelers, a male Wigeon, the Pink-footed Goose, the Barnacle Goose, a pair of Oystercatchers, 3 Snipe, 6 Lapwings, a Wheatear, a Swallow, 4 Sand Martins, a pair of Stonechats, a Pied Wagtail, 24 Linnets and a Raven, plus the usual Marsh Harriers and a Buzzard. At the Milano Bars site at L'Etacq were a Wheatear and a Stonechat.
La Sente's counts today included 330 Brent Geese, 2 Shelduck, 2 Teal, 28 Cattle Egrets, 33 Little Egrets, a Common Gull, 9 Black-headed Gulls, 21 Redshanks and 2 Pied Wagtails and in Grouville Bay were 38 Grey Plovers, 12 Curlews, 11 Sanderlings, 6 Turnstones, 2 Bar-tailed Godwits, 2 Dunlin and 2 Wheatears.
At Grands Vaux reservoir were 16 Tufted Duck, opposite the Jersey Pearl were 2 Wheatears and a Pied Wagtail and signs of Spring at Greve de Lecq today included 2 Red Admirals and a Hummingbird Hawkmoth.
