27.03.2024 Thanks to Romano for this nice image of the Hen Harrier which has been with us through the Winter, pictured here just a few days ago.
It was back to winter today, after a very brief clear start, with a band of rain sweeping through in a strong and gusty southerly wind and feeling cold at just 8c, this morning.
During the brief bright start, 45 Manx Shearwaters, 32 Guillemots, 15 Razorbills, 33 Gannets, 6 Fulmars, 21 Kittiwakes, a Lesser Black-backed Gull and 2 Sandwich Terns passed Corbiere, where 9 Purple Sandpipers were roosting until flushed by the high tide. 2 Peregrines were also seen and a Shelduck was at Petit Port.
At La Sente were 130 Brent Geese, 2 Shelduck, 10 Black-headed Gulls, 31 Little Egrets, 22 Cattle Egrets, 7 Redshanks, 5 Greenshanks, 24 Pied Wagtails and 7 White Wagtails. At Le Hurel were 9 Grey Plovers, 2 Turnstones, 14 Sanderlings, 5 Curlews, and at Queen's Valley were 2 Teal.
On the Scrape were 33 Teal, 2 Dunlin ( with another 2 flying over), 7 Snipe, 2 Oystercatchers, 8 Lapwings, a Swallow, 14 Meadow Pipits, a Pied Wagtail, 30 Linnets, a Water Rail and a pair of Stonechat. This afternoon, on St Ouen's Pond were 11 Teal, 15 Shovelers and a Snipe and at Kempt Tower, 3 Little Grebes.
In Vallee des Vaux this morning were 3
Siskins and 4
Bullfinches.
