31.01.2024 One of todays Black-necked Grebes at La Rocque RdC

A mostly sunny day, feeling a bit chilly with a high on 10 degrees and a south westerly wind.

Seen ta La Rocque this morning were a Great Northern Diver, a Red-throated Diver, 2 Black-necked Grebe, a Great Crested Grebe, 7 Red-breasted Merganser, 40 Grey Plover, 40 Curlew, 25 Turnstone, 100 Oystercatcher and a Black Redstart while nearby off Le Hurel were 21 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Razorbill and 34 Turnstone.

At La Sente were 400 Brent Geese including a Pale-bellied, 2 Shoveler, 38 Redshank, 6 Greenshank, 28 Grey Heron and 3 Cattle Egret with another 19 Cattle Egret at Grouville Marsh and a Sparrowhawk in a garden near Le Hocq.

On the Scrape were 18 Wigeon, 26 Teal, 35 Lapwing, 12 Snipe, a Water Rail and 4 Marsh Harrier while in the Sandpits were the Black-necked Grebe, 13 Little Grebe, a Pochard, 14 Tufted Duck and 2 Mediterranean Gull.
