05.04.2024 The Dutch colour-ringed pair of Brent Geese which are new visitors to the Island, well that we know as they were only ringed in 2023 so could have been here many time before, and at the bottom are our regular wintering pair for the past three years and are mainly seen around La Sente RdC
A mostly sunny day with the odd heavy shower and a north westerly wind
Seen at La Sente were 2 Shelduck, 2 Shoveler, 3 Moorhen, 42 Redshank, 5 Greenshank, a Lesser Black-backed Gull, 24 Little Egret, 8 Cattle Egret and 6 Grey Heron.
Near Gorey were 32 Mediterranean Gull, 6 Common Gull and 200 Black-headed Gull while on St Michael's cricket field were 22 Mediterranean Gull, 150 Black-headed Gull, 2 Common Gull, 12 Lesser Black-backed Gull and 100 Herring Gull with 5 Cattle Egret near St Saviours Hospital and another 11 at Fauvic.
On the Blanches Banques were 3 Stonechat and a singing Skylark while in the nearby Sandpits were 9 Little Grebe, 9 Tufted Duck, 2 Oystercatcher and 2 Stonechat.
At St Ouen's Pond were 9 Wigeon, 6 Shoveler, 250 Brent Geese, the Pink-footed Goose and 4 Lapwing and at Kempt Tower were a Shoveler and a singing Little Grebe.
Up at Sorel were a Stonechat and 200 Wood Pigeon heading east, a Fieldfare was along Les Ruttes, 5 Cattle Egret were along La Rue Chateau Clairval and a Blackcap visited a garden feeder in St Martin.
At Beaumont Marsh were 11 Snipe, a Curlew, 6 Shoveler, 3 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 Little Egret, 4 Pied Wagtail and a Raven.
