A cloudy day with a strong and blustery east-northeast wind, but warm at 20c
Another good early showing of birds passing Corbiere included 405 Balearic Shearwaters, a Manx Shearwater, a Fulmar, 10 Common Scoters, 22 Gannets, a Guillemot, 2 auk sp, 31 Cormorants, a Yellow-legged Gull, 2 Common Gulls, 4 Mediterranean Gulls, 22 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 10 Black-headed Gulls, 24 Great Black-backed Gulls, 11 Sandwich Terns, a Redshank, 2 Turnstones, a Hobby, 2 Peregrines, a migrant Kestrel, an alba Wagtail, 8 Meadow Pipits and 3 Swallows. A very active pod of c10 Bottle-nosed Dolphins were feeding close in, on the north side of the lighthouse rocks. At Petit Port were 41 Mediterranean Gulls, 7 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 13 Great Black-backed Gulls and 20 Curlews.
Short counts of migrant hirundines saw 75 Swallows and 85 House Martins pass L'Etacq in thirty minutes while a similar count from Noirmont saw 160 Swallows and 148 House Martins, also 2 Wheatears. Feeding over trees at West Park were 50 Swallows and 20 House Martins. Elsewhere in St Aubin's Bay, 10 pale-bellied Brent Geese and 16 dark-bellied Brent Geese at the Gunsite, while 15 Redshanks were at St Aubin's Harbour.
In Grouville Bay, dark-bellied Brent Geese numbers had risen to 38 and also seen there were 300 Black-headed Gulls, 3 Mediterranean Gulls, 2 Common Gulls, 3 Sandwich Terns, 24 Sanderlings, 17 Grey Plovers, 12 Ringed Plovers, 6 Curlews, 2 Bar-tailed Godwits and a Grey Seal, with 17 Grey Herons behind the Seymour Inn.
In St Ouen's Bay Sandpits were a Stonechat, 21 Little Grebes, 9 Tufted Ducks, 4 male Pochard, a Greenshank, 4 House Martins, 5 Swallows, 66 Coot and 6 Great Black-backed Gulls. On the Scrape were 10 Teal, a Green Sandpiper and north of the Pond, a Wheatear. At Le Pulec were 14 Curlews, 11 Little Egrets, 28 Shags, 7 Cormorants, 130 Oystercatchers and 4 Great Black-backed Gulls.
